Getting to Universal Studios Japan from 7mori: access and gear rental

Routes and official travel times checked 2026-09-30 (sources: the USJ official access page, JR-West station information, the Nankai Electric Railway site, the Hanshin Electric Railway site).

The last leg to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is the same from all five 7mori houses: change to the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo Station and get off at Universal City Station. Only the first half of the trip differs. All five houses also rent power bands, wands, robes and electric scooters by reservation.

In short: the two Tengachaya houses go via the JR Osaka Loop Line, the two Hanazonocho houses via the Hanshin Namba Line, and La Forêt Yamanakadani via the JR Hanwa Line through Tennoji. Rental reservations go through each house's official LINE account.

Routes from each house to USJ

Four houses sit inside the city in Nishinari Ward, and the first half is one or two trains to Nishikujo. La Forêt Yamanakadani is out in Hannan City, so you take the JR Hanwa Line to Tennoji first and change to the Osaka Loop Line. The minutes below come from the travel-time guide on the USJ official access page and exclude transfer waits and walking.

House Nearest station Route to USJ USJ official estimate
Mientsuki no Mori Nankai Tengachaya Station (7 min walk) One stop on the Nankai Main Line to Shin-Imamiya, change to the JR Osaka Loop Line toward Nishikujo, then the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo About 5 min from Nishikujo
Yamayakyo Nankai Tengachaya Station (9 min walk) Same as Mientsuki no Mori: change to the JR Osaka Loop Line at Shin-Imamiya, then the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo About 5 min from Nishikujo
Laforet Namba South Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line, Hanazonocho Station (1 min walk) Two stops on the Yotsubashi Line to Namba, walk through the underground mall to Osaka-Namba, take the Hanshin Namba Line to Nishikujo, then the JR Yumesaki Line About 13 min from Osaka-Namba
La Forêt Hanazonocho Yotsubashi Line, Hanazonocho Station (6 min walk) Same as Laforet Namba South: Yotsubashi Line to Namba, then the Hanshin Namba Line, and the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo About 13 min from Osaka-Namba
La Forêt Yamanakadani JR Izumi-Tottori Station (7 min walk) JR Hanwa Line to Tennoji, change to the Osaka Loop Line toward Nishikujo, then the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo About 13 min from Tennoji

The two houses at Tengachaya use the same route. Mientsuki no Mori is a 7-minute walk from the station and Yamayakyo is 9 minutes. On the Nankai Main Line toward Namba the first stop is Shin-Imamiya, so the change to JR happens there, and only once. From Shin-Imamiya take the JR Osaka Loop Line toward Nishikujo, then change to the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo. The property pages for La Forêt Hanazonocho, Mientsuki no Mori and Yamayakyo all list Universal Studios Japan at about 30 minutes by car.

The two houses at Hanazonocho use the Hanshin Namba Line. Laforet Namba South is a 1-minute walk from Hanazonocho Station and La Forêt Hanazonocho is 6 minutes. On the Yotsubashi Line, Hanazonocho (Y17) and Namba (Y15) have only Daikokucho between them, so it is two stops. Get off at Namba and walk through the underground mall to Osaka-Namba Station, take the Hanshin Namba Line to Nishikujo, and finish on the JR Yumesaki Line. The USJ site gives about 13 minutes from Osaka-Namba. La Forêt Hanazonocho is also a 15-minute walk from Tengachaya Station, so if you would rather skip the underground mall you can switch to the Tengachaya route: one stop on the Nankai Main Line to Shin-Imamiya, then the JR Osaka Loop Line.

La Forêt Yamanakadani is in Hannan City, a 7-minute walk from Izumi-Tottori Station on the JR Hanwa Line, with Yamanakadani Station the next stop over. The Hanwa Line runs straight to Tennoji. Change at Tennoji to the Osaka Loop Line toward Nishikujo, then to the JR Yumesaki Line at Nishikujo. The USJ site gives about 13 minutes from Tennoji. There is no direct train from this house to Namba, but a park day does not need Namba. Tennoji does the job.

Work the check-in rules into your timing. All five houses check in after 16:00 and check out by 11:00. If you want to go to the park on your arrival day, you can leave luggage in the entrance from 11:00 on the day of check-in. Keep valuables with you, as we cannot take responsibility for stored items. The same goes for your last day: check out at 11:00 and leave the bags in the entrance. For an early check-in or a late check-out, confirm with customer service first.

Counting the walk, the first half from the four city houses is one or two trains. The two Tengachaya houses change once, at Shin-Imamiya. The two Hanazonocho houses change twice, walking through the underground mall at Namba to reach Osaka-Namba and then riding to Nishikujo. Yamanakadani is three legs: Izumi-Tottori to Tennoji, Tennoji to Nishikujo, Nishikujo to the park. With small children or a stroller, the number of changes matters more than the minutes.

The four city houses are all in Nishinari Ward, Osaka. Mientsuki no Mori is at 1-9-23 Tengachaya, Yamayakyo at 2-14-30-5 Tengachaya-higashi, La Forêt Hanazonocho at 2-2-25 Umeminami and Laforet Namba South at 1-1-9 Umeminami. La Forêt Yamanakadani is at 340 Yamanakadani, Hannan, Osaka. Route searches return better results from the address than from the house name.

Drivers should check parking first. Mientsuki no Mori, Yamayakyo and La Forêt Yamanakadani all have free parking, the whole-house booking at Mientsuki no Mori comes with a dedicated space, and Yamayakyo has a free dedicated space of its own. La Forêt Hanazonocho has no parking of its own, and there are several paid car parks around Hanazonocho Station. Laforet Namba South has no on-site parking; a paid parking lot is right next door.

The route structure follows the Nishikujo platform guide in JR-West station information, the Nankai Electric Railway page for Tengachaya Station, and the Hanshin Electric Railway route map. The minutes are official estimates, so check each railway's timetable for the day. If you want to head straight to the park after landing, the USJ site also gives about 65 min from Kansai International Airport; the airport end is covered in the Kansai Airport Access Guide.

Renting power bands, wands, robes and electric scooters

Question 9 of the official FAQ puts it plainly: every house offers Universal Studios Japan power bands, wands, robes and electric scooters for rent. The rental notes on the home page also list interactive items and house costumes for the Mario and Harry Potter areas, plus strollers and baby baths. None of this is limited to one house. All five rent them.

Rentals are by reservation. The official FAQ says you can request them when you book, so just tell staff on LINE what you want. Fees are not published on the site, so the quote from that house's official LINE account is what counts.

The list splits into two kinds. Power bands and electric scooters are equipment. Wands, robes and house costumes are the interactive items and costumes for the Mario and Harry Potter areas. To work out how many wands and how many robes, count how many people will use the interactive rides and how many only want photos, then give those numbers on LINE.

Reservations go through each house's own official LINE account, not one shared account. La Forêt Hanazonocho uses the support account shown on the site. Mientsuki no Mori, Yamayakyo, Laforet Namba South and La Forêt Yamanakadani each have their own, and the links sit on their property pages. Message the account for the house you booked.

Send the stay dates, the number of guests, and which items and how many of each, all in one message. The site does not publish how many units are available either, so stock is something you have to ask about. Ask when you book, not on the day you arrive. Baby baths and strollers go through the same channel, and Question 8 of the official FAQ says a request at booking time is enough. Staff answer in Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean.

Wands and robes are park interactive items and costumes. Whether you can use them inside the park follows USJ's rules on the day.

Houses with the easiest run to USJ

Laforet Namba South is a 1-minute walk from Hanazonocho Station, the closest of the five houses to a station. The first-floor room for four is 43 m², ¥18,990 on weekdays and ¥21,620 on weekends, with a ¥6,500 cleaning fee. The 6 to 8 guest room on the second and third floors is 82 m², ¥24,000 and ¥26,000, cleaning ¥11,500. The whole house is 125 m² with a base of 10 guests, ¥33,000 and ¥37,000, cleaning ¥15,000. An extra bed is ¥3,000 per person per night throughout. The first floor and the upper floors can be booked separately, so two groups can take one floor each, while a whole-house booking blocks both. A drugstore is 30 seconds away on foot, a supermarket and a 100-yen shop 1 minute, and the shopping street 3 minutes, so topping up snacks before the park is quick.

Mientsuki no Mori takes 2 to 12 guests. The Forest Swan 4-guest suite is 27 m², ¥18,000 on weekdays and ¥19,900 on weekends, cleaning ¥9,000. The Arashi Moon 8-guest suite is 80 m² with three bedrooms, ¥24,000 and ¥26,000, cleaning ¥12,000. The whole house is 107 m² with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, ¥33,000 and ¥37,000, cleaning ¥15,000. Both suites have a bathtub, so you can soak after a day on your feet in the park. Tengachaya Station is a 7-minute walk, two stops by train to Namba, and the same station has a direct line to Kansai Airport.

La Forêt Hanazonocho has four room types, so you pick by group size. The Cozy Double is 20 m², ¥8,990 on weekdays and ¥11,210 on weekends, cleaning ¥8,000, and it is the lowest published rate of the five houses. The Spacious Suite is 28 m² at ¥15,990 and ¥18,350, cleaning ¥10,000. The Premium Suite is 48 m² at ¥18,990 and ¥21,620, cleaning ¥12,000, with a base of 4 guests and extra beds up to 6. The whole house is 96 m² with three bedrooms and three bathrooms at ¥35,690 and ¥38,100, cleaning ¥15,000, minimum 3 nights. For two people going to USJ, the Cozy Double costs the least.

The other two houses work too. The trip is just longer. Yamayakyo takes up to 10 guests and prices 1 to 4 guests the same, and you get the whole 97 m² house with three bedrooms and a free private parking space from ¥20,000 on weekdays. It sits in the same Tengachaya area as Mientsuki no Mori and uses the same route. La Forêt Yamanakadani takes up to 12 guests at ¥6,000 per person per night on weekdays and ¥8,000 on weekends, capped at ¥32,000 a night for the whole house, and it needs the change at Tennoji onto the Osaka Loop Line. It suits guests who book USJ as one day and spend the rest of the trip out of the city.

All five houses are rented as a whole house or a whole floor, so you never share with strangers. Every house is self check-in with no front desk on site: at 10:00 on the day of arrival we send the location, the guest registration form and the front-door code by LINE or email, then the key-box code at 16:00. The minimum stay is 2 nights, and 3 nights for the Hanazonocho whole house. The weekend rate is set by the night you check in, so Friday and Saturday check-in nights price as weekend. Everything above is the published rate, cleaning fees are extra, and the live quote on each booking page is what applies.

To choose by group size, see Which House for Your Group Size; to compare parking and bathtubs, see Facilities at All Five Houses. There are also Whole-House Stays Near Namba, the Tengachaya Area Stay Guide and the Yamanakadani Cherry Blossom Guide.

FAQ

Can I rent USJ wands and robes from 7mori?

Yes. Question 9 of the official FAQ says every house offers Universal Studios Japan power bands, wands, robes and electric scooters for rent. All five houses have them, not just one. The rental notes on the home page also list strollers, baby baths, and the interactive items and house costumes for the Mario and Harry Potter areas, all of them by reservation. Fees are not published on the site, so ask and book through that house's official LINE account. Wands and robes are park interactive items and costumes, so whether you can use them inside the park follows USJ's rules on the day.

When should I reserve the rental gear?

The official FAQ says rental items are by reservation and that you can tell staff when you book. Each house has its own official LINE account, so message the one for the house you booked with the stay dates, the number of guests, and which items and how many of each, all in one message. Baby baths and strollers go through the same channel, and Question 8 of the official FAQ says a request at booking time is enough. For the item list, fees and pickup, go by the reply from that house's official LINE support. The site publishes neither the fees nor how many units are available. Staff answer in Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean.

How do I get from Tengachaya to USJ?

Take the Nankai Main Line one stop from Tengachaya to Shin-Imamiya, change there to the JR Osaka Loop Line toward Nishikujo, then change at Nishikujo to the JR Yumesaki Line for Universal City Station. According to the USJ official access page, Nishikujo to Universal City takes about 5 minutes. Mientsuki no Mori is a 7-minute walk from Tengachaya Station and Yamayakyo is 9 minutes, and both use the same route. The two houses at Hanazonocho take a different route: walk through the underground mall to Osaka-Namba and ride the Hanshin Namba Line, which the USJ site puts at about 13 minutes from Osaka-Namba. The minutes are official estimates and exclude transfer waits and walking, so check each railway's timetable for the day. If you are driving, both Tengachaya houses have free parking, and Yamayakyo's is a dedicated space.
